Two girls rescued by RPF from capital
Child trafficking has become a rising concern for the Nabarangpur district now though the State is claiming that it is taking several steps for security of women and children.
The number of girl child kidnappers is on the rise in the district and trafficking has been a regular issue here. Sources alleged that some police officers are also involved in the organised crime. “If it is happening under the nose of the district administration and the police, who will protect our girls,” asked several women leaders of the district.
On Friday, two minor girls (11 years old each) of Nabarangpur were trafficked by two persons. The traffickers picked up them while they were returning from school.
In order to avoid public suspicion, the traffickers told the girls to tell the passersby that they were two sisters though they were not.
When the girls didn’t return to their homes, family members started searching them in the town, but they couldn’t. They even didn’t know that their children had been kidnapped.
On Saturday, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Bhubaneswar found the girls sitting in the Hirakhand Express train standing at platform number 2 in Bhubaneswar Railway station and rescued them. later, the RPF officials handed over the two minors to their uncle staying in Bhubaneswar.
