Child rights awareness drive held

Published on:

To prevent violence against and sexual abuse of children, their legal and social rights, the Centre for Child and Women Development (CCWD) in collaboration with Action Aid organised an awareness drive on the occasion of the World Day Preventing Child Abuse at Niladri Vihar. This also coincided with the Child Rights Week.

More than 40 members of Child Clubs attended in the awareness drive. Speaking in the occasion CCWD secretary Sadasiv Swain said, “We have to develop a child friendly society where no child labour, child abuse, child beggar and early marriage take place. For this, the parents and all stakeholders need to change their mindset.”

The members visited door to door and gave a clarion call to the slum dwellers to join hands for the betterment of children.  The programme was coordinated by Debabrata Mahunta, Mamata Nayak among others.

Notably the CCWD observes weeklong activities in different slum pockets every year.
