Child Fund India, part of Child Fund International, which serves around 10,000 children and their families in six districts of the State, has been working tirelessly to save kids and their family members in distress after cyclone Phailin hit Odisha.
In partnership with its emergency response partner, International Medical Corps (IMC), the organisation has deployed response teams to the areas ravaged by the storm. Currently, the IMC is organising many health camps to address the health needs of people in flood-hit areas of Baleswar district.
Jointly, the two agencies have conducted a rapid need assessment of the districts affected by the cyclone and the subsequent floods to determine the direct needs of children and families. While, Child Fund India along with its local partners is engaged in emergency response in its programme districts such as Puri, Kendrapada and Mayurbhanj, the organisation is also considering long-term interventions to provide livelihood support to the affected population.
