In a tragic incident, a 10-month-old girl, Babali, was killed while four others of the family were injured on Sunday morning when a rain-soaked mud wall of a hut collapsed at Gadbaguda in Nabarangpur.
The incident took place when the parents along with their five children were fast asleep. The neighbours rescued Sukru Gouda, (48) his wife Samari (40) and their children. local councillor Uma Shankar Pradhani called ambulance and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital, where the doctor declared Babali dead. The conditions of the other injured were said to be stable.
local MlA Manohar Randhari intimated ADM Bhimman Seth and Sub-Collector Parikhit Sethi about the incident. The officers went to the spot and paid the family Rs 3,000 under the Harischandra Yojana while the MlA gave an assistance of Rs 1,000.
