Chief Secretary warns non-performing bureaucrats

Published on:

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has come down heavily on the non-performing and callous bureaucrats, who are failing in their jobs.

Chairing an All-Secretaries meeting here on Thursday, Padhi observed that the Secretaries, who have failed to provide pinpointed information about their own departments, are handling matter casually.

Without naming any Secretary, he made it clear that he means business and Secretaries are to do their jobs with all sincerity.

While the Department of Planning & Convergence had asked for two-page notes from the different departments on the implementation of priority schemes and pro-poor programmes through their departments, some Secretaries without giving any mind have sent 15 to 20-page notes and even Annual Activity Reports to the Department of Planning & Convergence (DoPC) for consideration.

While Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan pointed out the folly of the senior bureaucrats, Padhi admonished them for their casual approach and directed all the departments to focus on actual service delivery at the field level.

In fact, a three-day Collectors’ workshop is being held from June 11 to activate the service delivery mechanism.
