Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh on Friday informed the State Assembly that three persons have been named in the FIR of Sugrib Ranabida and the Bargarh SDPO is overseeing the investigations into the alleged abduction case. IIC of Bheden police station is probing the case, he said. Speaker Niranjan Pujari had on Thursday asked the State Government to make a statement on Ranabida’s abduction issue which had been raised by the Opposition Congress. Arukh said appropriate action would be taken against erring officials if there was any delay in lodging the FIR. However, the Minister’s statement didn’t mention the name of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Snehangini Chhuria.

“The FIR lodged by Durga Ranabida, son of Sugrib Ranabida, at the police station on January 26 on his father’s abduction had named three persons, Sadananda Karmi, Ali Satyanarayana and B Rana.” Arukh told the House. Opposition Congress had raised the issue stating that Sugrib had levelled allegations against Chhuria that her men had kidnapped him days before the cooperative elections and kept at various places in Bhubaneswar in confinement including in the Minister’s official residence.
