The Ganjam district administration has intensified its investigation of funds misappropriation by Samarth NGO secretary K Ananda Rao after several complaints received from his own employees.

It was alleged that Rao got lakhs of rupees from different agencies for his NGO Samarth based  at Chhatrapur. His own employees accused him of having misappropriated money that he received from an organisation named Project Asha.

There is also a complaint that Rao bungled Banishree scholarship received by girl students of his school. In yet another allegation, one differently abled girl's family charged that Rao had taken a big amount to buy artificial limbs for their daughter.

After several allegations surfaced against Rao, parents are withdrawing their children from his school as the children don't feel safe in the place.

Recently, two woman teachers and some workers of Chhatrapur based residential special school 'Samarth' brought serious allegations of compelling employees for sexual favour, exploitation and funds misappropriation meant for students against its secretary Rao.

Recently, during a joint grievance hearing organised by the district Collector and Superintendent of Police, some employees of Samarth alleged that Rao was getting aid in the name of fake students enrolled in his school and collecting money to pass salary bill of his own employees.

After several allegations against Rao, the district administration has formed an investigating team which included Chhatrapur Tehsildar Prakash Kumar Mishra, Women Protection Officer Sangeeta Patra and Sub-Social Protection Officer P Padma.

The team has recorded the statements of several persons who brought allegations against Rao. Another three-member team headed by State Women Commission president Minati Behera came to Chhatrapur for investigation.

The locals have demanded to immediately remove Rao from a Government school building where he stays at present and they have also demanded Crime Branch inquiry to unearth massive corruption by Rao. Earlier, a woman worker of Samarth NGO brought allegation of physical torture against Rao but that case suspiciously didn't see any progress.
