Chhatra Cong's bid to teach CM Odia foiled

Published on:

Continuing their “effort” to teach Odia language to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Congress students’ wing on Saturday again tried to enter the Naveen Niwas.

Holding a copy of Chhabila Madhu Barnabodha (the most popular Odia primer), chalks, duster, pen, handwriting pads, slate and other teaching materials, five Chhatra Congress activists led by its president Itish Pradhan marched towards the Naveen Niwas but were blocked by security personnel midway.

The police detained Pradhan and the other four other leaders as a preventive measure.

Meanwhile, Pradhan reiterated that their attempts would continue until Patnaik learns the State’s mother tongue.

On Friday, the activists had held a massive rally in the city and tried to march towards the Chief Minister’s residence in protest against the CM’s poor command over Odia.

Meanwhile, BJD Students’ wing president Byomkesh Ray said the Chhatra Congress has been rejected across the State in various college elections.
