While an eight-day lockdown is in force in five districts including Cuttack, Chhatra Bazar and Malgodown, the State’s two biggest wholesale markets for vegetables and groceries, respectively, here will remain open round the clock.
“The traders and vegetables have agreed to open their shops for 24 hours in three shifts. The district administration has taken the decision to ensure availability of sufficient essential commodities for the public,” said an official.
Soon after the news spread, huge number of people rushed to Chhatra Bazar to buy vegetables on Monday despite the Government’s restriction on congregation of more than seven persons at public places.
