The Omfed has increased milk prices by Rs 4 per litre from September 27. This has affected collection and supply of cheese adversely as the price of cheese remains unchanged.
Milk Products Salesmen’s Association members were collecting milk at the revised prices and ensuring supply of cheese, due to which they suffered huge loss. This has forced the association to fix new rates, said association president Dilip Hali.
The association has decided to fix the price of cheese at Rs 165 and of Paneer at Rs 200. The new rates would be implemented from October 4 in all the sweet stalls and other outlets in the Bhubaneswar municipal area and its periphery, said association secretary Benudhar Behera.
