After the inclusion of Rourkela in the first list of 98 Smart Cities in the country, the denizens celebrated the occasion. The local BJP unit celebrated the moment at the Bisra Chowk by giving credit to Sundargarh MP and Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and Rourkela MlA Dilip Ray.
Durga Prasad Mohaptra, Municipal Commissioner, Rourkela Municipal Corporation said, “In a maiden initiative, we have been able to complete as many as 124 houses under IHSDP and after declaration of the smart city, we hope to cover up many slum areas of the city.”
Meanwhile, several denizens here looked jubilant. "I am excited to know that Rourkela has been declared for smart city in the first list of 98 cities in the country, “said M Mohanty, a resident of Basanti colony.
