The burnt bodies of a woman and her nine-month-old daughter were found from their house at Gamakorna village under he Simulia police limits in Baleswar district on Tuesday.
It was suspected that the woman, identified as Sanjulata Roul, set herself on fire and her baby following a dispute with her husband.
On being informed, the Simulia police reached the spot and recovered the charred bodies for postmortem.
The husband of the woman was detained by police for questioning in connection with the deaths. Reports said the woman’s husband was involved in an extramarital affair, which she had been opposing.
