With the annual Rath Yatra at Puri scheduled to commence from June 29, the traditional carpenters of the Shree Jagannath Temple completed the construction of the 42 wheels of the three wooden chariots for the deities on Tuesday.
Sources in the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said that along with the 42 wheels, the construction of the 21 axles have also been completed in time.
After these wheels are connected to the axles, the carpenters will begin laying wooden shafts across the wheels within a couple of days. The temple administration is in constant touch with the Biswakarma, Bhai Maharana and Bhoi Maharana sevaks for timely construction of the chariots.
