Pulling of the chariots during the Bahuda Yatra festival of lord Jagannath in Rourkela was held up for some time as members of a minority community
staged a roadblock demanding the arrest of a person accused of posting abusive remarks on minorities in social media.
Tension prevailed in Uditnagar area following the incident, however, the situation was diffused after the accused person was
arrested by the police and pulling of chariot resumed, reports added.
Similarly, pulling of chariot of lord Jagannath was disrupted for some time at Remuna in Baleswar
district as BJP workers blocked the main road following recovery of some objectionable material from the chariot.
However, normalcy was restored and pulling of
chariot began following intervention of the police which persuaded the protestoers to vacate
the blockade, the report added.
