Chargesheet filed against Rehman

More than five months after the Delhi police chargesheeted 17 members of terror outfit Al-Qaeda in Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS), including Abdul Rehman, the Odisha police on Wednesday filed chargesheet against Rehman, who was arrested by the Delhi police from the outskirts of Cuttack city on December 15 last year.

The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch police filed the chargesheet against Rehman before the JMFC Court of Salepur. It could not be immediately ascertained as to how the Odisha police chargesheeted Rehman, who had been interrogated by the State police for 15 days after getting him on remand in May last year.

Rehman and other AQIS members were, however, chargesheeted by the Delhi police in May this year under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for allegedly conspiring, establishing bases and recruiting Indian youths for the terror outfit.

Rehman had been running a madrasa here at an isolated place, where young children from neighbouring Jharkhand were put in a very unhygienic condition.
