The Commissionerate police on Wednesday filed chargesheet in the SDJM Court here against well-known industrialist Mahimananda Mishra and his associate Ganesh Sahu in the 2013 Cutack Press Chhak bomb hurling case.
The chargesheet stated that on the basis of Ganesh Sahu’s statements recorded during the investigation after his arrest, the involvement of Mishra in the case came to the limelight.
The chargesheet has been filed under Section 120B of IPC for criminal conspiracy, 9B of the Explosives Act and 307 for attempt to murder and 34 of IPC.
The Press Chhak bomb hurling incident was an outcome of a land feud between Mishra and a lawyer Abhaya Bhatt, the chargesheet noted. Sources said Mishra had allegedly given contract to Ganesh for the bombing after Abhay purchased a piece of land at Rs 72 lakh which the former wanted to purchase.
Mahima Mishra is currently lodged in jail in connection with the Seaways general manager Mahendra Swain murder case in Paradip.
