Directing the State Government to file chargesheets against all those named in the dying declaration, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Saturday proposed that the Itishree Pradhan murder case be handed over to the CBI.
The NCW, which summoned the Chief Secretary, the School and Mass Education Secretary and the DGP to depose before it at the State Guest House here, directed the State Government nab the other accused persons as soon as possible. “We have asked the Chief Secretary and the DGP to file chargesheets against the persons named in Itishree’s dying declaration, whoever they maybe, and nab all accused persons soon. Otherwise, we would recommend handing over of the case to the CBI for a fair investigation,“ said NCW Member Manasi Pradhan. The two visiting NCW members, including Manasi Pradhan, during the interactions with the senior State Government officials, expressed their displeasure over the manner in which the State Crime Branch has handled the probe into the Itishree murder case so far.
Stating that there was negligence on the part of the State Government in providing protection to the schoolteacher Itishree, Mansai Prdhan said the NCW has no faith in the Crime Branch’s probe as it has also not taken any substantial action in the earlier Madhabilata murder case so far.
