The third death anniversary of writer Chandra Kumar Mohanty was observed here on Saturday with a meeting presided over by noted poet Brajanath Rath.
Speaking on the occasion, senior journalists Prasanta Patnaik and Sampad Mohapatra referred to the vast changes in the print and electronic media.
They said scribes are now facing a multipronged attack both from outside as well as inside -- on one hand, the pressures of politicians and bureaucrats, and on the other, dictates of the owners of the media houses.
They said that despite their hard work-demanding profession, the journalists are not provided their basic minimum requirements. Successive State Governments are mute to their problems, they added. Among others, Prof Subash Patra and scribe Gautambuddha Das also spoke on the occasion.
