The four-day annual Golden Beach Festival would be held at the Chandipur beach near here from Thursday.
The local Defence units, the Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) and the Integrated Test Range (ITR), would open their counters for showcasing their guns, artilleries and missiles in the exhibition.
On the inaugural day, Guinness World Records holder Major Nitin Joshi would lead an 11-km Mashal rally from the Fakir Mohan Golai to the statue of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, said Beach Festival Committee secretary Bismay Mohanty.
The festival would witness cultural programmes each evening. local artists and a troupe of the Eastern Zone Cultural Centre would perform on the occasion. They would perform Chhau, Ranapa, Kathak, Bharta Natyam, Kuchupudi, Ghumar and Bihu dances, etc.
Chandipur beach is a major tourist destination in Baleswar district and the event would attract more tourists, said Mohanty.
