The district is all set to host a three-day Golden Beach Festival at Chandipur near here commencing from Friday. Various cultural programmes would be performed by artists from different States while local Defence units would showcase their guns, artilleries and missiles at the exhibition venue.
The audience would witness Chhau dance of Purulia, Bihu of Assam, Kuchupudi of Andhra Pradesh and Bharat Natyam of Tamil Nadu, apart from performances by State artists like Sambalpuri and Ghumar of Kalahandi.
“like previous years, the artists from others States will be presenting their cultural programmes each evening. We have orchestra and dance programmes by troupes from Kolkata,” informed committee secretary Bismay Mohanty.
The Defence units, Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) and ITR (Integrated Test Range) would be exhibiting their arms and arsenals, Mohanty added.
“The programme will be held under the auspices of the Union and State Culture and Tourism Departments with the support of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Kolkata. Apart from funfair, one can enjoy water sports, sand arts and parasailing, informed local tourist officer Biswajit Rautray.
