An unmarried tribal woman on Saturday night lodged an FIR in the Rourkela Mahila police station alleging that the Chandiposh PS IIC molested her on May 14. The woman too met Rourkela MlA Dilip Ray and the SP and sought justice from them.
According to sources, the woman, laxmipriya Munda(35) of Gauduniposh under Sundargarh district’s K Balang police station, had gone to a temple in the Champajharan area under the Chandiposh PS on May 14. Two youths coming on a bike snatched away her vanity bag containing Rs 4500.
She soon went to the Chandiposh PS and told IIC Uma Shankar Naik about the incident. Then Naik asked laxmipriya to place the complaint in writing and molested her. When she opposed, Naik uttered her tribal caste name. laxmipriya mentioned all these in her FIR.
The Rourkela Mahila police have started investigation after registering a case. SP Anirudha Singh said he soon ordered for an inquiry into the matter after the woman met him.
Meanwhile, IIC Naik has refuted the charges. “I am totally innocent,” he said.
