The Bombay Natural History Society and Indian Bird Conservation Network (IBCN) with Wild Orissa will organise a workshop on Common Bird Monitoring (CBM) programme on December 30 in the office of the Divisional Forest Officer Chandaka Wildlife Division, Baramunda. This is part of a series of State wide workshops to be held in Odisha.

Nandakishor Dudhe from IBCN will apprise the gathering on CBM. Eminent ornithologist Dr UN Dev, IBCN State Coordinator Odisha Monalisa Bhujabal and Chandaka Wildlife Division DFO Manoj Mohapatra will be present. The participants will be taken on field visit on foot on December 31 to Chandaka Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary.

CBM is a citizen science programme whose objectives are to provide information on year-to-year and longer-term changes in population levels for a wide range of birds across a variety of habitats throughout India; promote a greater understanding of the population biology of birds and in particular to focus on factors responsible for declines and strengthen bird conservation exercise.
