Local MLA Minaskhi Mahanta, besides local BJD leaders and supporters of Champua thanked CM Naveen Patnaik for allocating funds for construction of a new indoor stadium here.
Rs 6. 55 crore for the indoor stadium of Champua NAC has been granted by the CM recently. The stadium will be completed within a period of 18 months.
"Naveen is the man behind the success of Indian Hockey team, both male and female, at the Tokeyo Olympics. Our CM has given enormous importance to sports as sanctioning funds for a stadium speaks for itself," said Mahanta.
He has successfully completed the World Cup Hockey Tournaments in Odisha in 2018. Odisha once again is going to host the World Cup Hockey in 2023, she said adding that a new hockey stadium in Rourkella having a sitting capacity of 20,000 would be ready for the upcoming tournament.
Among others, who were present in the meeting include NAC president Girija Shanker Sahu, BJD district minority cell president Nesar
Heyat and other party supporters. Sports equipments and materials were given to the captains of football and volleyball teams on the occasion.
