Champua Councillors hold stir against EO

Published on:

Three Councillors, including Manas Ranjan Pasayat  and Dharanidhar Naik, are sitting on a dharna since Thursday in front of the Champua NAC office in protest against alleged involvement of EO Nirmal Kumar Tripathy in irregularities in tender floating.

They demanded a through probe into all the works during the tenure of Tripathy who retired on Saturday.

They said that after Champua was given the status of NAC by the Government on December 23, 2014, people had thought that there would be all-round development and citizens would lead  better civic life. And everything was normal, but a dispute started in last six months when Tripathy joined as EO.

The Councillors alleged that Tripathy awarded contract jobs to certain close aides who belong to the ruling party. Even in some cases, no tender /resolution in the NAC was made.

In this regard, the Councillors had given a written complaint to the Sub-Collector on June 23 along with forwarding the same to the district Collector and PD, DRDA.

When asked, Tripathy said everything  has been done as per rules; and at present, the matter is with PD, DRDA, who had come to the NAC office on June 27 to inquire into the matter. But on the other hand, the Councillors alleged that if the PD had come then why they were not informedIJ  So, they doubted the impartiality of the inquiry.

Meanwhile, the Councillors threatened that  if no proper action is be taken against the EO by conducting an impartial inquiry, they would intensify their stir.
