The police need to curb rampant transaction of illicit liquor in the entire district, especially in the vicinity of district, sub-division and block headquarters. The wine shops acting like bars should be taken to task. The 24-hour patrolling vans must be fitted with GPRS system. Suresh Mishra from Munusing village said that several pages of the website launched by the Rayagada police are still under construction and need immediate activation. The information provided in the website is scanty. Activities as a part of district police’s social responsibility must be put as update in the site. The serious police cases registered by the concerned police station should be put into this public domain as Press releases. Each police station under the jurisdiction of Rayagada district should equip itself with digitization and e-governance like e-filing of FIR, e-receipt of copy of FIR, etc, said Mishra.
A senior citizen on condition of anonymity said the district Collector is on the verge of retirement and belongs to the OAS cadre whereas the SP is too young. A generation gap and cadre status may be an issue of coordination in the district administration, he apprehended.
