The Commissionerate Police on Saturday busted a chain snatchers’ gang in the city and nabbed three members of the gang. The police seized 26 gold chains and a motorcycle from their possession. Acting on a tipoff, the police apprehended gang’s mastermind Rakesh Rout of Nischintakoili in Cuttack district and a purchaser of stolen property.
Police sources said Rout, a seasoned criminal, had been forwarded to court earlier on four occasions. He is involved in many dacoity and loot cases under all police stations in the capital, police said.
