The local Cesu authorities are alleged to be harassing the people when they apply for a new connection or request for maintenance of a fault in the service.
According to sources, the new consumers are being forced to give bribe to the officials to get clearance. Besides, they have to cough up at least Rs 500 at the time of connection.
Moreover, when the consumers request the officials for any kind of maintenance, the officials allegedly make much delay or skip showing staff crunch.
Asked, a junior engineer said that he possesses few linemen who simultaneously have to give maintenance, provide new connections and collect the revenue. So it is hard for him to maintain the section,he maintained.
