Around 500 electricity labourers under the banner of the Nikhil Odisha Bidyut Mazdoor Mahasangh (NOBMM) on Wednesday staged a demonstration in front of the CESU main office here demanding fulfilment of their five-point charter of demands.
The labourers have been demanding stopping of privatisation of the CESU, regular salary, regularisation of jobs and equal pay for equal work.
“We have been appealing the concerned authorities since a long to take initiatives to meet our legitimate demands. But the Government’s role and concerned authorities’ apathetic attitude is really shocking,” said Mahasangh secretary general Pravakar Das. “We warn the Government of dire consequences if the Government fails to address our issues shortly,” said Das.
