The CEOs of 30 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) visited the Centurion University on February 18-19 to study the skills training and development model adopted by the university in partnership with DDU-GYK, NSDC, and many other leading global industries.
The National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC) is a kind of Public Private Partnership in India. It aims to promote skill development by catalysing creation of large, quality, for-profit vocational institutions. It provides funding to build scalable, for-profit vocational training initiatives.
The NSDC along with the support of its 37 Sector Skill Councils and 211 training partners has been able to create a successful model for the country which is being evaluated periodically for improvement and effectiveness. The NSDC is aggressively looking at meeting its target in the mentioned time period.
The Centurion University headed by its president Prof Mukti Mishra, Gram Tarang MD AbhinavMadan and other senior management members welcomed the delegation on the campus.
The distinguished guests appreciated Gram Tarang for their laudable work in the skill training. The guests strongly commended the University for creating a unique, yet replicable and scalable model of employment-linked skill development programmes.
The NSDC is also working closely with the Government of India to provide an impetus to the skilling mission. The PMKVY (Pradhan MantriKaushalVikasYojna) scheme which provides monetary reward to candidates for undergoing skill training is one such initiative.
