The Centurion University of Technology and Management held its 3rd Convocation here on Saturday with Governor and Visitor of the University SC Jamir presiding over the ceremony.

Prof Alison Galloway, Provost, University of California (US), was the chief guest and Wendy Brooks Consulting Pty ltd Managing Director Wendy Brooks B Mus the guest of honour.

Dr Jamir observed that times are changing, and hence, the best contribution to education would be to have teachers as “the drivers of change”, The Centurion University leads the way of bringing in quality-centric, inclusive, contextual, skill-based and meaningful higher education in the country, he said.

Prof Galloway advised the new graduates to “follow their heart, hold on to their values and look for open doors!”

Brooks, a hugely successful entrepreneur herself, urged the students to look up ways and means to build an enterprise. Entrepreneurship is the only way that would “create new opportunities, teach you how to be prepared to take considered risks and always look for better ways to do things”, she said.

The Centurion University’s unique teaching and learning model, which integrates skills development with higher education, has earned prominent mention in the NITI Aayog’s Task Force Report on Skill Development 2015. The report notes the university’s education model as a reference for best practices that is scalable, sustainable and replicable.

The World Bank in its November 2015 Report on “Governance for Quality in Higher Education” has the Centurion University reflected as a reference for quality, scalability and replicability of the model.

The university made history recently when the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accorded Grade-A making it the youngest State-enacted university to have achieved this feat.

The University’s President Prof Mukti Mishra said on the occasion, “Brick by brick, we are striving to build an ecosystem with difference, differently and shall continue to do right things and things right.”
