On the eve of the World AIDS Day, students of the Centurion University observed the day on November 30 with the support of Vihaan programme of Lepra Society to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and its impact on youth.
A number of activities were organised not only to mark significance of maintaining good health but also for causes and prevention of HIV infection.
The students and staff were educated to prevent themselves from the infection and also to support people living with HIV positive in any manner without any discrimination.
The basic understanding about the issue was built through technical input by expert Dr Bijaya Behera.
The students also wrote messages on the issue imprinting their signature, took part in quiz competition based on the issue and got prizes and played red ribbon game.
“The threat to the quality of life for individuals and families is the threat of HIV/AIDS, a public health issue that like so many others, has disparate effects on specific populations,” said Dr Anita Patra, Registrar, Centurion University.
“We are committed to collaborative initiative to eradicate HIV/AIDS,” said Dean, Students' Welfare, Centurion University, Dr Sangram Keshari Swain.
Programme Manager, Vihaan Lepra Jyoshna Sahoo said, "It is very important that youth should be trained about reproductive and sexual health so that they can know about the implication and impact of various infections and take informed choice to make themselves safe without any discrimination and violence."
