Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has requested the Centre to extend ‘Skill Development of Youth in lWE districts’ scheme to 13 more districts of the State.

Patnaik made this request while holding discussions on skill development with Union Skill Development Secretary Rohit Nandan at the State Secretariat here. Presently, the Central scheme is being implemented in only five Maoist-hit districts of the State. One ITI and two skill development centres are being set up in each district under this scheme.

The CM also suggested to the Secretary to open a branch office of Regional Directorate of Apprentice Training, Hyderabad in Bhubaneswar.

Informing that the State has a target to provide skill development training to two lakh youths every year, Patanik said the National Skill Development Mission should provide capital support for tools and equipment to the district level Skill Development Centres with hostel facilities.
