The BJD on Tuesday slammed the Union Government for not according Special Category State (SCS) status to Odisha despite its eligibility and repeated requests of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and said people of Odisha would give a befitting reply to the BJP at an appropriate time.
“A resolution for placing SCS status to Odisha has been passed unanimously twice in the State Assembly and the BJP had the support to the resolutions.
But after four years since it came to the power at the Centre, the Narendra Modi Government has not yet fulfilled the legitimate demand. Instead, it is only showing a rosy picture to people of Odisha,” alleged BJD State secretary Bijay Nayak in a statement.
He said while the Modi Government, like the earlier UPA Government, has neglected Odisha in the issues of Mahanadi water dispute, Polavaram, paddy MSP and SCS status, the State BJP is only advocating for anti-Odisha elements at the behest of the Union Government.
“BJP leaders’ anti-Odisha attitude has already hurt people of the State. People will certainly give a befitting reply to the BJP at an appropriate time,” said Nayak.
