The BJP on Monday slammed the State Government for claiming the Saheed laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital as its own when the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre has contributed 60 per cent of sanctioned amount of Rs 175 crore.

Addressing a Press conference, the party’s general secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra also criticized the Government for appointing doctors at a salary of Rs 50,000 per month on contact basis for a three-year term and demanded that regular doctors and other staffs be appointed at the earliest. Alleged that the BJD is always using the Government machinery for its interest, Baxipatra said, “The Chief Minister’s office had invited some ruling party leaders to attend the medical college inauguration meeting.  The Chief Minister should take stringent action against the officer,” demanded Baxiptra.

Stating that three doctors in Koraput region quit jobs losing faith in the State Government, He too wanted to know why the Chief Minister is still silent over closure of the Sardar Rajas Medical College for which the State Government had provided 25 acres of land and Rs 20 crore.

Baxipatra further alleged that an officer of the CMO is the main villain behind the closure and demanded that the Chief Minister take steps to bring the Sardar Rajas into its fold and ensure its re-functioning at the earliest.
