The State-run Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), the nodal agency for industrial infrastructure development, has sought funds from the Union Ministry of Steel for preparation of a Comprehensive Master Plan (CMP) of the Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex.
IDCO chairman & managing director Vishal Dev said that during a meeting with the Union Steel Secretary on the April 11 this year in Bhubaneswar, it was discussed that a CMP of the Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex (KNIC) should be prepared by the IDCO.
In a letter to Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Steel Syedin Abbasi, the IDCO CMD has drawn his attention to this fact. Financial assistance for the project would be provided from the Steel Development Fund (SDF) of the Ministry of Steel.
As per the discussion, the IDCO has initiated the process of selecting an internationally renowned master planning firm through open international competitive bidding which is expected to be completed by July 2014.
The CMP would be prepared for an area of approximately 15,000 to 16,000 hectares in and around the existing KNIC area on a GIS platform with detailing of infrastructure and plot level planning.
“Considering the area for which the CMP and the scope of the work, it is estimated that fees payable to the master planning consultant shall be to the tune of `10 crore. However, the exact fees shall be ascertained after completion of the bid process,” Dev said in his letter.
To meet the expenses towards preparation of the CMP, it is proposed that an amount of `5 crore may be provided to the IDCO from the SDF, Dev added.
