The suspension of former Kendrapada SP Satish Kumar Gajbhiye has been confirmed by the Union Government as per the All India Service Rule, sources said.
Notably, the State Government has put the IPS officer under suspension about two months back over the Sarathi Baba fiasco in which many agitators were allegedly beaten up mercilessly by police personnel and acquiring of huge tracts of Government land in Nimaparda area.
“Satish Gajbhiye was suspended on August 13. Draft charge was also framed against him under the All India Service Rule. He was intimated about it through the Director General of Police and had been asked to comply with it within 30 days,” Home Secretary Asit Tripathy said, adding that the Centre has confirmed his suspension and the draft charge.
As per rules, though the State Government had to send a report to the Centre within 45 days from the date of suspension, yet it has not been done in Gajbhiye’s case.
After it was exposed by the media last week, the Home Department served a notice to Gajbhiye on October 13
after charges were framed against him and intimated the Centre.
