The Union Government has appointed a total of 140 lawyers to manage its cases pending at various district and lower courts in Odisha.
According to a notification issued by the Minister of law on May 16, while 28 lawyers were appointed as Standing Counsels, 112 were posted as Additional Standing Counsels. These Counsels would manage all cases other railways and income tax ones of the Centre pending in district and lower courts in the State.
For Khordha district, while Kailash Chandra Mohapatra has been appointed as Standing Counsel, Umakant Patnaik, Jitendra Kumar Senapati, Bipin Jayasingh, Sasmita Pradhan, Prajna Patnaik, Narendra Kumar Sahoo and Priyabrata Tripathy posted as Additional Standing Counsels, informed BJP law wing co-convenor Rabi Shankar Patnaik.
