A Central team would visit the State again to assess the drought situation in some districts in December. A team had earlier come to the State for the purpose in October.

“Following our interim drought report, the Agriculture Ministry has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Central team of nine members who will visit Odisha sometime in coming or the next week,” Special Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra told mediapersons on Friday.

Sources said the State Government has already prepared a final draft on drought which would be presented to them.

In the interim report, the Government has sought drought assistance of Rs 1,687 crore while mentioning that crops on 8,82,720 hectares of land spread over 173 blocks in 25 districts were affected.
