A Maoist cadre serving under-trial in the Alipingala Sub-Jail, six km from here, received injuries on his head after being attack by his cellmate on Sunday.
Injured Prasanna Pal was undergoing treatment in the District Headquarters Hospital here and his condition was stated to be stable.
Prasanna, a resident of Panchapalli village under the Erasama block, had been arrested for having Maoist link in the year 2008. The inmate who attacked him was reported as Santosh Swain, a murder accused, of Taradapada village near here.
Reports said Prasanna and Santosh had been residing in Cell No 4 in the sub-jail for the last four months. All of a sudden, Santosh attacked Prasanna inside the cell. Jail authorities have shifted Santosh to another cell and started investigation to find out the reason behind the attack, jail sources informed.
