In order to check soaring sexual harassment incidents in educational institutions, the State Government on Tuesday formed a State-level sexual harassment cell under its Higher Education department.
The cell has been empowered to inquire into all types of sexual harassment allegations made by students in all Government, Government-aided and self financing coleges in the State, an official said.
Director of Text Book Bureau Nibedita Jena has been appointed as the chairperson of the cell while Deputy Secretary of Higher Education department Nibedita Prusty, Under Secretary Debajani Dhal are its nominated members.
A victim can directly approach the cell. “Whenever a female staff or a girl student faces sexual harassment, they can file a case at the cell directly,” a release said.
