To check malpractices in the Plus Two examinations, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) authorities have decided to install CCTV cameras at all examination centres across the State.

Following a directive by the School and Mass Education Department, the CHSE has asked the junior college to install CCTVs at examination centres by December 2018.

Reports said that the practical examination will begin from third week of January 2019 and the theory examination in Arts, Science and Commerce streams will commence from March  first week.

CHSE Examination Controller Bijay Kumar Sahoo said that the CCTV installation has been made mandatory for all the examination centres to check malpractice. Colleges lacking CCTVs by December end would be exempted from conductin examinations in 2019, he added.

Sahoo also said two mega pixel CCTV cameras would be installed in all examination halls, question paper room and answer sheet sealing places. Besides, the college authorities have been directed to instal CCTVs at entrance point of the centre and guardian standing area.

However, the authorities of several colleges have opposed the decision for installing CCTV cameras citing lack of required infrastructure and funds.

To this, Sahoo said a notification would be released soon by the School and Mass Education Department to resolve the funds issue.

Examination is likely to be conducted at around 1,100 centres next year. There may be some changes in selection of centre in view of number of students after form fill-up process.
