The anti-sabotage measures and sharing of intelligence in the Maoist infested areas were discussed.

There was no major incident in recent past, but there are certain measures in place which the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is ensuring and enough intelligence sharing regarding the railway lines in the insurgency affected areas was stressed, said DGP Dr RP Sharma to mediapersons after the 3rd State-level Security Committee for Railways (SlSCR) meeting held here on Wednesday.

The main objective of the meeting was to ensure co-ordination between the RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP). The main points of discussion were law and order, passenger security, infrastructure development and to properly follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in Maoist affected areas.

Railway Police ADG Pranabindu Acharya said there was a proposal to install CCTV cameras in every railway station and trains for the safety and security of the railway passengers. It would be implemented very soon. A proposal for augmentation of strength in the State GRP has already been sent to the Government for the safety and security of railway passenger and railway properties.

A second scanner would be soon installed at the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack railway stations as there are two points of entry and exit, informed Acharya.
