The State Government has decided to instal close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all private and Government buses for the safety of passengers, particularly women. Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi on Friday told reporters here that 400 private buses would be equipped with CCTV cameras by July this year in the first phase while CCTV cameras would be installed in all the Odisha Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) buses in three months.

“Our prime priority is to ensure safety for passengers. All the private bus owners have been asked to adopt CCTV cameras in their vehicles. Both the private and OSRTC buses will come under the CCTV surveillance system in a phased manner,” said Majhi.
