The controversy over reduction in marks even after re-evaluation of CBSE Class XII answer-sheets continued with a girl student attempting to commit suicide here on Monday.
The CBSE Class XII girl student protesting the discrepancies in the results tried to end her life by consuming an overdose of medicines. She was now undergoing treatment at a private hospital here after her condition deteriorated.
This was for the second time that a student attempted to end life over the alleged discrepancies in publication of CBSE results on May 28. Earlier, another student had also attempted suicide by trying to set himself ablaze in front of the CBSE Regional Office at Saheed Nagar here on June 6.
The CBSE result fiasco triggered further controversy after the marks of a few students dropped compared to their previous scores after re-evaluation.
The CBSE had on Sunday mailed the re-evaluated marks to 18 students, who had earlier moved the Orissa High Court seeking re-evaluation of their answer copies. The marks of only three students got increased after the re-checking.
However, the affected students are planning to knock at the doors of the High Court en masse.
In another related development, the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) on Monday served a show-cause notice to the CBSE on the discrepancies in results basing on the petition filed by some students and the Parents’ Association on the issue. The commission said it would inform the national commission on the issue.
