The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has formally decided to implement Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)-pattern syllabus in Plus Two streams from the next academic session in the State.

The new syllabi for all the three streams of Arts, Science and Commerce prepared by a team of Professors on the lines of the CBSE curriculum would be introduced in the 2016-17 academic session.

The syllabi were approved on Tuesday at the Council’s Academic Committee meeting here, said CHSE Chairman Basudev Chhatoi.

The move was aimed at bringing uniformity in the quality of education throughout the country and also would help students perform better at national-level examinations.

Chhatoi said since the current academic session has already begun and books were already being published the new curriculum would come into effect from next academic session after the books as per the new syllabus were printed.

Sources said the CHSE was supposed to implement a revamped Science syllabus from the current academic session, the plan was put on hold as Odisha State Bureau of Text Book Preparation and Production had already published several Plus Two Science books for 2015-16 as per the old syllabus.

Sources said a team of 10 Professors each under the syllabi committee of CHSE has prepared the new syllabus for all 31 subjects in the three streams.

Sources said though the courses were prepared with a modern approach but the book count for each subject was kept the same.
