CBI unwilling to expedite chit fund probe: Bijay

Published on:

launching a blistering attack on the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the multi-crore chit fund scam in the State, senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatraon Sunday alleged that there is a nexus among the criminals, the State Government and the CBI, as a result of which the investigating agency is not willing to expedite the chit fund inquiry.

Stating that the CBI has proved that it is guiltier than the chit fund companies, Mohapatra said the agency is dancing to the tune of the State Crime Branch, which was earlier probing the scam.

“The poor and innocent people are the victims of this nexus,” Mohapatra told reporters here.

“Going by its mode of investigation, the CBI has proved that it is guiltier than the chit fund companies. Fact remains that the chit fund companies are not afraid of the CBI investigation which is amply clear with the name of the Oscar chit fund company coming to the fore. There are several other chit fund firms which are running their businesses in the State. Had the CBI been more stringent in its investigation, such incidents would have never occurred in our State and the innocent people would never have been the victims of fraud,” Mohapatra said here.

He further remarked that the leaders irrespective of their party affiliation would be treated as accused in the coming days if they try to protect the CBI.
