The CBI Special Court here on Saturday allowed the CBI to take Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash’s brother Pravat Dash on a seven-day remand in connection with the chit fund scam.

The Central investigating agency produced Pravat before the court after arresting him in the morning.

Prior to the arrest, CBI sleuths had interrogated Pravat here for alleged misappropriation of `3 crore of the Seashore Group transferred to his account.

However, Pravat denied the allegation. His lawyer Bijay Kumar Kar said Pravat has been granted anticipatory bail by the HC in several cases lodged by the State Crime Branch. He was arrested by the CBI in a similar case, the lawyer said.

But the investigating officers said that it is a fresh case. Funds were transferred to Pravat’s account regarding a land deal at Angul, for which payments were done through cash as well as through cheques, they added.
