A CBI team from Bhubaneswar conducted raid in house of a Deputy General Manager of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), house of two former RSP officers including former Executive Director and office of two local businessmen, on Friday, on the allegation of irregularity in awarding a tender to a private business house.
According to sources, the CBI team on Thursday filed two separate FIRs, related to corruption in the RSP. One FIR named former Executive Director (Works), RSP BP Verma, former Deputy General Manager (Technical) to ED works Rajiv Ranjan, former DGM (In-Charge) Coke Oven (Electrical) PK Das, former ED (Matarials Management) P Sahoo, Managing Director, Reliable Hi-Tech Infrastructure Pvt ltd Surendra Kumar Dua, on the charges of criminal conspiracy, demand of illegal gratification, abetment and criminal misconduct by public servant.
Another FIR named Verma and Shreeram Agarwal of M/s World link Corporation on suspected offense of demand of illegal gratification, abetment and criminal misconduct by public servant.
Sources said a 17-member CBI team from Bhubaneswar had reached Rourkela and started raid in multiple locations.
Separate CBI teams conducted raids in the house of Rajib Ranjan, presently working as a Deputy General Manager of New Plate
Mill of RSP, house of Paramananda Sahoo, who retired Executive Director (Materials Management) of RSP, about six months back and house of PK Das, who had taken voluntary retirement a few months back.
Again, two more teams conducted raid at the house and office of Surendra Dua and Sreeram Agarawal.
Although the CBI officials refused to divulge the details of the raid, sources in the CBI said the raid was related to previous raid of the house of former RSP ED (Works) BP Verma on August 8 last.
Significantly, Verma had been arrested by CBI on graft charges, from his official residence at Rourkela, along with recovery of cash of Rs 1 lakh, which he had allegedly received from one business house.
Significantly, a raid had also been conducted at the house of businessman Surendra Dua on August 8 last, along with the raid of the house of Verma. Rajib Ranjan, presently working as DGM Plate Mill of RSP, was working as the Technical Advisor of BP Verma, when he was functioning as ED (Works).
