The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha on Wednesday interrogated BJD leader Prafulla Singh at least for two hours in connection with his alleged links with tainted Arthta Tatwa and Seashore chit fund companies.
The investigating agency had also quizzed Singh on August 5 to know whether he was mediating between his party leaders and the chit fund firms. Singh was previously the working president of the Cuttack district unit of the BJD.
In another development, the State Crime Branch interrogated two doctors of the Capital Hospital Dr SK Meher and Audiologist Khirod Panda in connection with the issuance of a fake disabled certificate to Shrabani Kar, wife of arrested Motilal Gouda’s associate Himanshu alias Happi Kar.
Shrabani had managed to get a C-grade contractor licence with help of the certificate.
The Crime Branch had quizzed ENT Specialist Dr Santosh Panda in this connection on Tuesday. It was alleged that Panda had issued the fake certificate to Shrabani at the behest of Motilal Gouda when Panda was a member of the District Medical Board.
