A BJP team led by district unit president Bijay Kumar Swain has submitted a memorandum to the State Governor demanding CBI probe into a recent incident of bombing and arson at Ambagaon.
Expressing serious concern over the deterioration of law and order and loss of huge properties of poor people, the party demanded immediate transfer of a controversial police officer to prevent the Jarada police station from becoming a shelter of offenders.
BJP spokesperson Rama Chandra Panda said the party is deeply disturbed over continuous impairment of law and order under Jarada Police Circle for rising partisan role of the local police. It is quite unfortunate that the Jarada PS instead of becoming a shelter of law abiders turned into a shelter of offenders. It is more shocking that though the police were present in the place of incident of bombing and arson, but remained as mute spectator,
Panda alleged. Panda further alleged that there are several instances where the IIC of Jarada PS acted to please his political masters at whose instance, the controversial IIC was reposted for the second time in the same place only after a gap of a couple of weeks which shocked the denizens.
Citing an example of erratic and dictatorial dealings of the Jarada IIC, Panda said a senior BJP leader Subash Chandra Panda, who after becoming a proposer of the BJP’s MlA nominee in the last general election, was deliberately summoned to the police station and was humiliated in July 2014. Though an enquiry was conducted at the instance of OHRC on this issue, the same was hushed up to cover-up the misdeeds of the local police, Panda alleged.
Notably, in another shocking incident it was alleged that, the same IIC revengefully and whimsically gave a leg kick to a pregnant lady on the midnight of October 25, 2014 resulting in the death of the child in the womb leading to serious public protests. The Union Home Ministry had asked the State Government to probe the matter and inform the complainant about the factual position of the investigation, but the local administration was silent on the matter, Panda lamented.
The BJP sought the intervention of the State Governor to order a CBI probe into the tragic incident and more particularly the role of the controversial IIC, Panda added. Among others, BJP district president BK Swain and vice president Udayanath Pradhan were present.
